For this photographer, as sentimental as I am, this session hit me hard.
You see, years ago I set out on one of my first ever shoots photographing this precious little girl named Leah at the Bradley-Olmsted Gardens. I was nervous but SO glad to have such a sweet and curious toddler to photograph.
Throughout the years, Ive been blessed to step into this family's life and photograph them as they grow. Leah's 2nd birthday, a few family sessions as the years progressed and then her little brothers newborn photos. As I stood in their house for that newborn session, I held back tears. Yes, ya'll, I'm super emotional sometimes but honestly, I think that makes for a good photographer ( you want someone who will care about the people in the photograph and not just look at them as dollar signs). On their wall and in frames on their tables were the images I had taken of the family over the years. Visual representations of the milestones in their family. And I got to be the one to take those photographs! Its a precious privilege to capture a family's history as they take these steps through life.
A couple weeks ago I got to take Asher's One Year pics in the same place I did Leah's first shoot. Such a sweet reminder to me of the blessings of this job. My skills and style has changed as any photographer's does as they learn... but the desire is still the same, to take photographs that show the life and heartbeat of your family. And if I am so blessed, to be able to do so over the years.
